Armenia had come to the Ottoman Rule in the 15th century. The Ottoman Empire was then coming to an end in 1923.

Armenians were all the persons that got killed in the Armenian Genocide. There were about 1.5 million Armenians killed and about 1.75 million Armenians deported. The population in 1914 before the genocide was 2.1 million and in the year 1922 there had only been 390,000 Armenians. Many died of starvation or being tired without water.
